Hawaii faces flood watches state-wide this week
Hawaii is bracing for another round of heavy rainfall this week, with the entire state under flood watches from Wednesday through Friday. This follows a destructive period of flooding in March, where back-to-back Kona lows caused an estimated $1 billion in damage. The rainfall is expected to be particularly intense on The Big Island and Kauai, with potential accumulations of up to 8 inches. Higher elevations may see even greater amounts, and snowfall and ice accumulation are possible on the summits of The Big Island's volcanoes.
