US · Published Jun 8, 2026
A powerful storm system is expected to bring severe weather to the northern Plains, including parts of Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming, through tonight (June 8, 2026).
The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Moderate Risk for severe thunderstorms in southeastern Montana, northwestern South Dakota, and central North Dakota.

Impact & Risks

The northern Plains face a high risk of severe thunderstorms capable of producing destructive winds, large hail, and heavy rain. Communities in southeastern Montana, northwestern South Dakota, and central North Dakota, including Minot and Dickinson, are particularly vulnerable. In the southern Plains, areas under Flood Watches, such as Oklahoma and parts of Kansas and Missouri, are at risk of flash flooding due to slow-moving, heavy rainfall. Low-lying and flood-prone areas are especially susceptible to water accumulation.
