The impacts of these extreme weather events are widespread and severe. Vulnerable groups, including urban slum dwellers, rain-fed agricultural farmers, and outdoor laborers, are disproportionately affected. Landslides in hilly regions pose a direct threat to lives and infrastructure, while dust storms and heatwaves exacerbate health risks. Additionally, climate-induced droughts and flash floods are disrupting agricultural stability, leading to food inflation and malnutrition, which currently affects 40% of children in India. Educational disruptions are also significant, with extreme weather events impacting nearly 54 million students in 2024 alone.
